System Failure is a soft sci-fi worldbuilding project focusing around a small cast of characters exploring a long-abandoned space station. Sent to retrieve precursor technology from the station, the crew of the 'Watcher' are all but abandoned by the company they work for as the station reawakens in their presence. Further complicating matters, their ship's AI gets absorbed into the station's systems, now severely damaged and suddenly showing signs of self-awareness.
Inspired by Stargate, Seedship, Disco Elysium, and the Lifeline series, System Failure strives to mimic an episodic sci-fi series in a text adventure format. The player controls TIPS, a ship AI who is accidentally integrated into a precursor research station during a mission gone wrong. Forced to explore the station further, the player will have to complete missions to unlock new sectors, decide what party members will complete each quest, and guide their chosen crew to survival. Over the course of the story, the player will decide who TIPS will become, shaping their personality and relationships with their crew; For better, or for worse.
